Digital capacity is up and ink consumption down following the installation of two HP Scitex XP2300 printers at Welsh firm, Gardners. Designed for high-speed production, the HP Scitex XP2300 is HP's first 3.2m-wide UV outdoor signage production printer. As a specialist producing high volume banners, posters and billboards, Gardners claims the equipment has reduced ink consumption by 30 per cent due to its ability to print in a single pass. This makes it possible to quote competitively on volume jobs.
The HP Scitex XP2300 has also helped Gardners maximise throughput and efficiency with a head carriage auto elevator to reduce operator intervention and media change over times and a mesh kit, which enables users to print on mesh without time-consuming clean-up.
In fact, Gardners recently used the printer to undertake a complex order for 18 rolls of printed safety mesh wrap. Each roll had a printable area of 43 by two metres. Gardners delivered the order within 11 hours.
Managing director, Richard Gardner, said: "UV printing offers many advantages and we have won new contracts from customers who will not now accept traditional solvent ink production. We are able to print at higher speed on a larger number of substrates, offering our customers a greater choice, such as producing outdoor advertising and point of sale items using environmentally responsible materials such as polyethylene."
