Young people from a special needs school in Hampshire saw their own flag in production while visiting the Hampshire Flag manufacturing unit in Waterlooville. The group of 11 pupils from Oak Lodge School toured the site, enabling students to see skills learnt about in school applied in the workplace.

The school flag, which was designed by one of the Hampshire Flag team members will fly in the school grounds.

Headteacher at Oak Lodge, Bev Hawker, said: "Visiting industry and businesses is a key part of our activities programme. It offers valuable insight into how a manufacturing firm operates. They were particularly impressed by the size of the machinery involved."

Managing director of Hampshire Flag, Graham Wilkinson, added: "Opening our doors to students is a privilege. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and desire to learn, and we hope that they have been inspired by their visit."
