Dominion Screen & Digital Print is targeting new markets after taking a ‘quantum leap' and investing in an Inca Onset S20 UV flatbed printer

Bradford-based Dominion Screen & Digital Print business is to add the new Inca Onset S20 to its already comprehensive screen and digital setup when it arrives next month.

Managing director, Dominic Clark, explained: "The company, which is fundamentally a trade print house, is making the investment as part of a process for creating the future shape of the business. We asked ourselves where do we go from here? The Inca Onset S20 is a quantum leap with what it brings to the market.

"We're not targeting the screen market with this. Instead we're looking to tackle the wide-format litho market because the Inca Onset S20 offers litho quality. We are always looking at ways to increase productivity, reduce costs and offer greater flexibility and the S20 is the perfect solution.

"With screen, it's a mature, developed market that has reached its peak. It is being eroded by digital at the bottom and by litho at the top. With the Onset S20, instead of telling someone we can fulfil 30 per cent of their print buying requirements, we can say we can fulfil 60 per cent of that."

The Onset S20 is a UV curing inkjet flatbed printer, prints edge-to-edge onto substrates up to  3.12 by 1.6m and 50mm thick, at speeds of 250m2/hr. The vacuum table, with accurate pin positioning, lets users print single and double-sided on a variety of media. The Onset S20 also features a gloss level control to produce finished from matt  through to satin to high gloss depending on application. This brings massive versatility in the range of products that can be printed which includes display POS, exhibition graphics, backlit, frontlit displays and outdoor signage.

The company states that with up to an amazing 758 million drops of ink jetting per second on the Onset S20 and the UV curing lamps providing near-instantaneous curing the printing quality and results are so impressive that it is hard to tell the difference between Onset, screen and offset print.

Clark is confident the new Onset represents the best combination of photographic print quality coupled with high production speeds, an offering that complements Dominion's existing setup. Dominion is committed to investment and further developments are already in progress for later this year.
